Club mailing lists

NKACC now has three mailing lists.

nkacc-l

This is the general-purpose list for the club. You can ask any question and another member may well provide the answer. But by seeing other people's problems before they happen to you, you may be able to help yourself.

nkacc-announce

All members should be subscribed to this list - Club announcements will be made here.

nkacc-committee

A "closed" list for the committee to talk to each other on.

What is a mailing list? Do I have to pay to subscribe?

A mailing list is a simple way for a collection of like-minded individuals to have a discussion. When you subscribe to the list (which doesn't cost a penny!) you are "opting in" to receive text that is posted to the list.

There are three different types of mailing list:

• Regular list (like nkacc-l). Anyone can subscribe, and anyone who has can post messages to the list, and will receive all such messages.
• Moderated list (like NKACC-announce). Anyone can subscribe, but any posts made to the list have to be approved by the list moderator before everyone else sees them. This is useful for announcement mailing lists, as it ensures that only relevant messages go out to subscribers.
• Closed list (like NKACC-committee). Just like a regular list, but anyone who joins has to be approved (or invited) by the list owner.

So how do I subscribe?

Simple. We're using mailman to process our lists, and you can simply subscribe yourself over the web from the following links:

• nkacc-announce

...And then what?

It's all done by email! Just send an email to the <name of the list>@<list host>

For nkacc-l, you can contribute simply by emailing nkacc-l@nkacc.org.uk But remember to subscribe first!
